UNAIDS Summer Internship

Donation protected
Hello,

Thank you for visiting my page and for considering donating and helping to sponsor my internship this summer. I am currently a third year student at Princeton University, studing Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience, and on the pre-medical track. Service has been an integral aspect of my life from a young age, and has been something that I hope to continue in my career in the future. I have been involved in various service projects throughout the year, the most recent being a medical mission trip to Imo State, Nigeria in the summer of 2014, sponsored by the Mezu International Foundation. It was an inspiring 2.5 weeks for me, and only propelled me further in my hopes of becoming a medical doctor and effecting change in a tangible way. However, I do not want to stop at the hospital. For the past few years, I have become increasingly interested in health policy on both a domestic and international scale. The many problems faced by communities in these rural areas and other developing countries, are ones that could be alleviated by proper governmental attention and the establishment of policies that guard the welfare of the people.

This summer, I have the opportunity to begin this journey, through an internship with the United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). I will be working with the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV division and will be afforded a chance to not only learn from the minds of people whom are attempting to identify these problems and effect sustainable policies and programs to alleviate them, but also contribute to this work. This is truly an opportunity of a lifetime for me, as I hope to work with international health organizations or federal departments dedicated to work such as this in the future. However, this placement will send me to Geneva, Switzerland, which is known to be quite expensive.

I am seeking aid for my travel and lodging expenses. I have been and continue to apply for funding through other programs, however as I was notified of the confirmation of my internship after many of the deadlines have passed, I am at an impasse.  I hope that you will consider donating to aid me in reaching one of the many goals I have in life, as I would truly appreciate any and all help. My parents have often told me, "It takes a village to raise a child", and it truly does. Without the support of all those in my life, I would not be where I am today, and hopefully through your continued support, I can continue in my endeavors.

Thank you very much!
