We are Technically Funny, a community-focused cooperative that serves the Twin Cities improv scene with support for growing audiences, paying artists, and amplifying voices in the art-form by providing a platform to distribute live theater online for people to watch.

Our first show, filmed May 24th, will be available on public access at a date TBD, and free on our website. After some time (TBD) it will be a paid video, with revenue split to the artists.

So, what does this money do? First, we want to pay all our staff a decent wage of $25/hr. This first show will not earn any revenue for at least a month, and in that time we owe our fantastic crew and partners their due for all their hard work.

We also rely heavily on our relationship with SPEAK MPLS for equipment rentals during our startup period. We'd love to be more independent from (but still collaborate with) SPEAK. If we grow enough that two shows need to be streamed and filmed in the same night, having even more equipment will allow us to cover multiple shows.

Beyond that, extra money protects us in case of emergencies, and getting through our first couple years will be fraught with unknown variables that could make or break our cooperative. With some extra savings we have a higher chance of surviving and serving.
