The goal of the film project "Don't Shed A Tear" is to produce a teaser film and submit it to the top 5 streaming providers (Netflix, HBO, Paramount ...). The production team is made up of 5 aspiring, young female producers whose goal is to make a name for themselves in the male-dominated industry. The film serves as an initial project for the foundation of an own female production company.

We want to set a good example and encourage young women in the industry to get something going themselves.

The project "Don't Shed A Tear" is definitely worth supporting as it is all about "Women Empowerment". In recent years, the film industry has brought a lot of attention to the inequality of men and women in many industries through the big #metoo movement. With our project, we want to tie in with this movement and work to create further awareness of it.

In Germany, the share of all German cinema films produced by women between 2017 and 2020 is 13%. This compares to 53% of films produced by men and 34% by mixed teams (Institute for Media Research, University of Rostock, 2021).

As a US study by the "Center for the Study of Women in Television & Film" found, in US films in 2021 only about a third of all characters were female overall - and apparently regardless of the type of roles: For lead characters, the share was 31 per cent. Calculated for the entirety of all speaking characters, it was only marginally higher, at 34 per cent. With this film we want to set an example and encourage all women who want to get a foothold in the film industry.

Furthermore, the film addresses social pressure, depression and sexual repression, also in their respective dependencies. Since these topics are very relevant in social education, the film is also worth supporting in terms of content.

About the Film

A Copenhagen Fiction Film in which we are accompanying the passionate brush strokes and the phlegmatic life of the most famous painter of Denmark.

While the process of painting is a sexual sensual ride, a flirt, a wave of fire, he finds himself in pure emptiness after returning home to his family. Lost in the darkness and depression caused by the pressure of keeping up with the image he successfully built, he can't find the joy of life anymore.

One day he paints a client, a young successful woman, a writer and journalist. They fall in love immediately. A love that was never meant to be. A love that was never supposed to be lived. A love being the beginning of a dark story with an unpredicted end for both characters.

Why?
"I have created the story, because I have been surrounded by a lot of people not living from the heart, not being happy or being depressed. From my own experience, I learned that the social pressure in this society is really harming, and especially for men "To be someone" plays a crucial role. Besides that I would like to stress another interesting fact: how divorce is still not accepted in society. As a Life Coach I have seen this many times. Waves of shame overcoming the couple and the entire family hindering the process of separation. Along the way we are also addressing the topics on: Sexuality and its expression - How to touch someone? How to be in touch? Thereby we are taking the post-pandemic vibe into close consideration and observing how the two main characters are handling this very differently. This film will showcase that true love exists (not in a cheezy Disney movie kind of way) and reality at the same time can be painful and difficult! So don't shed a tear, my love."

More to the Crew
"Don't Shed A Tear" will be produced by a young and female dominated crew to empower women in the film industry. The core production team is assembled of five strong, young and motivated women - Lisa Riesner, Anni Adler, Federica Valeria Rizzo, Eva Zanettin and Johanna Lameter.

They are working closely together with Malte Udsen from Storyline Denmark and Maan, the biggest film production companies in Denmark. Udsen is co-producing the film.

Also part of the crew is Jonas Kolahdoozan, who will be the director of photography. Jonas is a very experienced DoP known for productions like the Netflix series "Kleo" and the series "Wodkavariationen" produced by the upcoming production company Drei Schwestern Produktionen bringing a mulit-cultural background to the set with his German-Iranian roots. The production benefits from the #diversity of the team as the crew members are originating from different parts of the world (Austria, Germany, Iran, Italy and Denmark) and additionally all bringing different professional backgrounds to the table.
