#TeamPrinceMax We beat cancer’s butt!

First and foremost, thank you all so much for your constant prayers and support during this challenging time. Our lives have been turned upside down, however we know God is still in control and his miracles are forever abundant!

It started with simple knee pain. Kids playing basketball, Max falls, and we just knew….ice and elevate, it will heal. However, as time went by, it never got better. There would be days it looked like it was healing, and then out of nowhere, the pain and swelling would start again. After countless hospital and Doctor visits, we kept getting the same prescription. Ice and elevate, stay off the knee for two weeks, it should be just fine. It wasn’t until Max was visiting his dad, he called to say Max was really hurting. I asked him to take him to the hospital in New Jersey, “let’s see if they have a different prognosis” Thank God they did. Someone had an intuitive notion to request a blood test. It was that test that hinted something else was going on. They assumed it was an infection, admitted Max and started IV antibiotics. After a biopsy, it was concluded several days later, July 22nd, the worst day of my life…. My Maxi was diagnosed with Cancer.

After several scans and biopsies, Max has Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, more specifically, B Cell Non-Hodgkins. This type of cancer caught early has a 95% success rate for recovery. HE WILL RECOVER!

On August 17th, we were given Max’s treatment plan. He will have to undergo four months of chemotherapy, a spinal tap to biopsy spinal fluid and chemo infusion on August 19th and will be spending 5 days or more every two weeks for consistent chemo treatment. Max will lose his hair, have a weakened immune system and other potential side effects. He cannot be physically present with his peers in school but will be homeschooled when he is not in the hospital. Emotionally this has taken a toll on Max. The thought of not being with his friends is devastating.

We have learned that chemo will treat and kill the cancer, however we have also learned that it destroys some of his good cells and it may hinder his ability to have children of his own in the future.

I have a background in nutrition, so immediately I sprung into action to learn what homeopathic and integrative medicines will help to rebuild his system while detoxing and ridding his body of the harmful effects of chemo. This is a recovery treatment that is started immediately following Max’s final round of chemo. It’s imperative that there be no lapse in time. Unfortunately, these therapies and treatments are costly and are not covered by insurance. We are calling on our village for your financial support. We want Max to have a FULL recovery with the quality of life that every child deserves. We thank you all for your donations, big and small. And mostly, we thank you for your LOVE and PRAYERS!
