After being engaged for a few months, and fiancee' was pregnant with our first child...I was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia on October 16, 2015. A blood cancer that has riddled my life and stole some of the joy that inspired me daily. The initial treatment begin on December 31, 2015, and from there the journey began for remission. I have been in remission since December 2017, but have recently not been able to afford the medication needed to survive. As an educator, my insurance coverage will not cover the full cost of my chemotherapy medication. I have to take the medicine everyday for the rest of my life, and the co-pay would be over $600 for a 30-day supply. In all honesty, we do not have those type of finances available in our household. I have literary stretched the remaining medication and I am down to less than 30 pills. I will be visiting a new oncologist this week, but most of all I am fighting to survive to see my children's successes as adults and beyond. And also, to live in moderation with my spouse, family and close friends. We recently found out that the cancer has relapsed within my blood. Currently working on getting medication. Any assistance in this matter would be a blessing filled beyond measure. Thank you for your compassion and comprehension of this lingering nuisance of an issue! With love #teamriley16
