What is FIRST® LEGO® League?
In FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®), 233,000+ children worldwide on more than 29,000 teams are immersed in real-world science and technology challenges. Teams research and design their own solution to a current scientific question or problem and build autonomous LEGO® robots that perform a series of missions. Through their participation, children develop valuable life skills and discover exciting career possibilities, while learning that they can make a positive contribution to society.
Three Components of FLL®
The FLL experience is comprised of three equally important parts – the Robot Game, Project and Core Values. At Official Events teams are judged in these three areas. The Robot Game and Project represent what the teams do in FLL, and Core Values represents how the teams approach FLL.
FIRST LEGO League Core Values
The FLL Core Values are the cornerstones of the program. They are among the fundamental elements that distinguish FIRST LEGO League from other programs of its kind. By embracing the Core Values, participants learn that friendly competition and mutual gain are not separate goals, and that helping one another is the foundation of teamwork.
* We are a team.
* We do the work to find solutions with guidance from our Coaches and Mentors.
* We know our Coaches and Mentors don’t have all the answers; we learn together.
* We honor the spirit of friendly competition.
* What we discover is more important than what we win.
* We share our experiences with others.
* We display Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition® in everything we do.
* We have FUN!
