Help Jenny Keep Fighting Appendix Cancer!
My name is Jenny and I am still fighting my rare, incurable Appendix Cancer. I'm 35 years old and have been fighting this disease since I was diagnosed at age 29.
Thanks to so many selfless people, last year, my husband James and I were able to go to Australia so I could participate in the first and only clinical trial specifically for my kind of cancer. This clinical trial actually worked, and had reduced my largest tumor by 50%!! Nothing short of miraculous, especially after multiple horrible abdominal surgeries, chemotherapy, and other treatments had not worked in the past for me.
The Aussie team has been working tirelessly to get this clinical trial up and running here in the United States, but unfortunately, almost a year has passed and it still seems it won't come to fruition anytime soon. So now once again, we need your help to get us back to Australia so Prof Morris and his nurse Sarah can perform this clinical trial on me once again. I fear I am running out of time before my tumors grow too much and I am absolutely terrified of being incapacitated... I want to go to Australia ASAP for the trial again before I am unable to travel.
As of my latest CT scan, my tumors have not only adhered together, but they are back to the same size (possibly larger) than my they were before we went to Australia last April.
Unfortunately, our FDA is dragging their feet on allowing this trial to be performed here in the States, and I have been waiting for almost a year for this to happen, yet it still has not.
So this time, James and I are asking for more donations, so not only can we travel back to Australia for the trial, but also so he can go on FMLA to be there with me the entire time and we not go into severe debt again (especially as he won't get paid while on FMLA). Also, between my 1st and 2nd surgeries, James and I both pulled out our 401ks so we could make ends meet (yet another reason we need your help!)
Also a side note: we plan on running this GoFundMe for several weeks. In the incredibly slim chance the Aussie clinical trial DOES start running here in the States, then James and I will use the funds to pay for us to go to Baltimore, MD, where the clinical trial will be performed, and also to pay off the many medical bills we have accrued over my 6 years of being a cancer patient.
Any and all donations are welcome and greatly appreciated!! Being able to participate in this trial again will not only buy me more time on this earth, but also improve my quality of life. So please consider giving so I can live a longer, fuller life!
Sincerely,
Jenny and James Malec
