Hi, my name is Tiffany Price and this is our story. First and foremost I want to give thanks to God for the everlasting love he has promised each and every one of us.

On Sunday, October 16, 2016, my son had a fever of 104. Since this is my second child I was fully aware of this not being too high and to break his fever with Motrin and Tylenol (the standard). It broke as expected and all was fine the next day. By the next night came another onset fever and Jaylan was lethargic (odd to me). So I decided to take him to the ER on Tuesday October 18th , who diagnosed him with a virus and provided anti-nausea medication and told him to rest. On Wednesday, October 19th, he seemed to have flu like symptoms , very tired, sleepy and pain to the touch. Myself and my fiancé Greg thought "let it take its course" and by the end of the week he should be feeling better. On Friday, October 21st, I was called to pick him up from daycare due to thrush (bacteria in the mouth). I immediately took him to his pediatrician's office explained the increasing pain to touch as if in agony. She advised it was due to the virus and to continue Tylenol and Motrin to break the fever (which at this point were coming every other day). So, I took my baby home but by night I knew I had to do something more due to him not getting better at this point and him seemingly getting worse. THE BEST DECISION MY FIANCÉ AND I MADE.

We arrived at CHOP (Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania) a little past midnight on Saturday morning. He was immediately diagnosed with "Bacterial Meningitis"( http://www.cdc.gov/meningitis/bacterial.html) by sight without any confirmation of test (yet....). However he received a CT scan of his head, multiple X-rays of his chest and neck and a ultrasound of his stomach to rule out anything not seen by sight. All test came out negative of abnormalities. He received a spinal tap as the last result which was very painful, however immediately shown infection of the spinal fluid. Antibiotics were started immediately.

He was admitted and was still in agony, Saturday night I noticed his eyes being fixed looking in an upward position with no response. I immediately called doctors who provided him with emergency care to reduce the pain and subdue the inflammation. He seemingly was getting better with the antibiotics given since that morning.

A couple of days go by and he is improving to his normal 7month old self. On Wednesday, October 26th, Jaylan experienced a seizure in front of me and his dad in the middle of the night. There were maybe 20 emergency doctors at his bed side. (The most horrifying experience any parent should have to experience). He underwent an immediate ct scan of his head and shown inflammation around the brain. We were then admitted to ICU. A couple hours later a MRI was ordered to provide a clearer picture of the fluid around his brain........ The results showed and immediate need for surgery due to puss between his scull and brain.
The surgery was successful and he has improved again more than ever. His days in ICU were only 3. And he has drastically improved.

Doctors say we are lucky, but my faith says my son is blessed and covered in the blood of Jesus and by his stripes he is healed. The power of prayer is REAL, very real.

At this time I am out of work to care for him which will be a significant decrease in income for our household. With bills piling and the holidays approaching I humbly come to family and friends for your assistance. I also have a 3 year old, Nasir, (who turns 4 on November 19th) who does not understand the severity of these traumatic events (and I would like to keep it that way). I don't want to interrupt his life and need to continue to provide a roof over his head and Christmas for both of them. Due to the events of the past week I will be out of work for some time that will impact our lives financially. I come as humbly as I know how and ask for assistance from those who can. Anything will help and is truly and graciously appreciated, either monetary or a note of encouragement.

I say to all mothers, fathers and caregivers TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS, our children depend on us.

God bless! #teamJaylan
