April 2015 I turned 40. May 2015 I had a mammogram, everything came back fine. Sunday October 4, 2015 I got out of the shower and found a lump. I knew immediately that it was Breast Cancer. I'm not sure what gave me that idea, but the lump felt the size of a golf ball. I cried.
Tuesday I saw the radiologist for a mammogram and ultrasound. The radiologist confirmed my lump and scheduled me for an immediate biopsy. My Biopsy was scheduled for Wednesday. This was moving so fast.
Wednesday I had a biopsy, the radiologist told me that he was 90% sure it was cancer. He called me Thursday afternoon at 2:30 and confirmed what I really already knew. I cried again.
I am going through a double dose of Chemotherapy every two weeks, followed by a weekly dose of a different kind and then a Double Mastectomy with Reconstruction. They are planning to remove my remaining ovary as well because the type of Breast Cancer I have (triple negative) has a high risk of Ovarian Cancer as well.......
Every little bit can help. I am strong because of my warriors, the people who support me, my friends who change their profile pic to reflect me, my warriors who wear my #teamheather gear. I am strong because of my family. I am strong because of my friends. I am strong because of you. I am strong because Strong is the only way I know how to be.
