Fight against Crohn’s is a huge financial burden
Donation protected
My journey with Crohn’s Disease started over 32 years ago. Since then I have had numerous hospital stays and many surgeries. Four of those surgeries have removed sections of intestines that have left me with permanent absorption issues.
I also have an ongoing heart issue that has required two procedures to try and make the electrical system work properly and keep my heart in rhythm.
Recently, I have had 2 major abdominal surgeries in November 2017 and April 2018 to remove strictured bowel that caused blockages. Then I had a heart procedure in February 2019 that didn’t go as planned and a virus called Norovirus. These two issues have caused several trips to the hospital in the past few weeks.
Although I have insurance and work FT, the amount of medical bills I am responsible for has grown to almost $20,000. And of course I have missed a great deal of work. I have always been in debt for medical bills since the beginning of my fight with Crohn’s. Most people with a chronic illness are in the same situation. It has a snow ball effect because as your credit rating goes down from collections, everything else starts to rise. Even car and homeowners insurance rates go up if your credit score goes down. Although this is very unfair, it is the way it works.
So I find myself in this difficult situation financially. My family has pitched in to help me and I am forever grateful. Any help through this campaign will go to diminish these medical bills. My ability to work FT in the future is in jeopardy, so I am anxious about these tremendous debts.
Thanks so much for considering to help. Please pray for God to bless the givers of this campaign. He knows the future and my faith in His plan for me is still strong. God bless you.
