On June 9, 2015, 2 years old, Christha Sim-Sherard who will be turning 3 years old on July 5th 2015 was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia also known as "ALL".
In the middle of March of 2015, her mother Thavy notice that she was limping on her left foot but was able to walk still. Thinking that is was probably something that will go away after a few days, unfortunately it didnt. Instead, her limping got worst and she wasnt able to bare weight on her left foot. Her mother took her to the ER at CHOP, got an foot xray done and they couldnt find anything wrong. As she was discharge, they notice that she wasnt able to bare any weight on her right foot as well. So at this point, the pain was traveling from both her feet to her legs than to her hip area. At times she's not able to sit too long because of pain. Since then, she's been crawling since.
After about 2 months of not being able to walk and joint pains. Her primary doctor still couldnt determine what was wrong, so they referred CHristha to the orthopedics, from there, the orthopedic couldnt find any diagnosis either, so he referred her to the neurologist, which he , also couldnt find a diagnosis for her. So, at this point, they ask for her labworks to be done. They drew blood from her and within less than an hour, her test results came back clearly showing that she has leukemia.
Thavy and her Fiance were in the middle of planning a wedding that they now must cancel as their daughter's health is now top priority.
Having just found out the diagnosis, Thavy must consider quitting work, as a Legal Document Specialist, to care for Christha.
Chemotherapy started less than 48 hours after her diagnosis. Lord willing, she would be cancer free in 2017 if all goes well with treatment.
This GoFundMe page was build so that we can raise funds for medical bills and to suppliment the loss of income from Thavy staying home. I just came up with this number because I have no clue how much this will cost in the end. I am 100% certain that this it not enough, but its a starting point so that my sister can have some support through this trying process.
