David Benskin, will be 16 on June 20, 2015 and is known to his family as Aquil (sounds like ah-keel),  was brought into Memorial Hospital in RI on Saturday, May 2, 2015 with severe back pain and a fever.  On May 6th he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and chemo treatments began the next day.  On May 13, after all test results were received Aquil’s cancer was re-diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, due to the fact that the cancer was in his bone marrow.   As we post this we are finishing up our 2nd full round of chemo treatment, which takes place every 3 weeks for 5 full days.  

This young man has a warrior spirit and is looking at this as a battle that he has already won.  Aquil is also a big brother and lives with 3 of his sisters and a niece (Samantha, Simone, Savannah and Mila). As you could imagine with this size family, life was not dull before and cancer just adds to the complications of a big family.  Add on the additional expenses that cancer creates is very difficult, it will take a village to get him through this.
