Greetings! My name is Amanda Jones. For the past 25 years, I have made my living as a professional dog portrait photographer, traveling all over the country taking photos of my clients’ nearest and dearest.
Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with breast cancer immediately before Christmas, 2021. As a result, I will be going through treatment and without work in 2022. My treatment schedule for this cancer is very intense and will take close to a year to get through.
I don't mean to be flippant about my GoFundMe title, and I am not taking this ask lightly, but feeding my dogs is the smallest of things I am asking for help with this year.

This diagnosis of HER 2+ cancer has come at a terrible time. Like many people around the world, the past two years have been rough for my family and me - husband, Chris, daughter, Sophie, and dogs Benny, Ladybug and Fig. Fear of Covid infections has made running our dog portrait business almost impossible.
During 'normal' years, I would be traveling by plane doing dog portrait sessions in cities across the country. (I do the photography, Chris runs the back end of the business and keeps the house running smoothly.) With Covid, this has not been possible. Chris and I invested in a camper van and began driving back and forth across the country to do our sessions.

When faced with this diagnosis, it became clear that I would not have the ability to run my business in the same way while undergoing surgery and treatment. I realized that I needed to ask for help with my situation.
As a self-employed couple, our health insurance costs are prohibitive and our plan features high deductibles. In addition, the cost of our insurance has increased 19% this year. We have no disability insurance, nor are we eligible for unemployment. We have some savings, but without generating substantive income, we're sure to exhaust that quickly.

The money generated through this GoFundMe will be going towards my medical expenses. It will help pay our monthly bills, and yes, it will buy food for our three dogs.
As I mentioned earlier, I do not take this GoFundMe Campaign lightly. It was a difficult decision to create this page and publish it. I have a network of amazing clients, friends and family who have asked consistently, “How can we help?” Honestly, this is the best way to help. Thank you for listening to our story.
