However, our program is only possible if we receive the funding necessary to send our team to competitions throughout the year. We are currently utilizing GoFundMe to fundraise for the registration costs for a robotics competition in Ventura, CA. Our program is entirely student-run and student-funded. We are coached by Hamilton's wood shop teacher and one of our math teachers, both of whom volunteer hours of their time after school and on the weekends with no compensation. We are fortunate enough as to be academically supported by compassionate people whose motivation for teaching our students is their pure passion for robotics and learning. We raise the money we need by applying for grants, seeking sponsorships, and collecting donations from local business and families. The money we raise directly funds registration costs, transportation, building materials, food, and other costs that come up along the way. We do not receive any financial support from our home school, and the amount of money we are able to raise directly affects our ability to participate in competitions and build our robots.
As a team, we understand that we are asking for no small sum of money, and are extremely grateful for anything you can do to help our team. Because our team is entirely student-run and funded, it is absolutely crucial that we reach our financial goals, as, though we wish that we could run this program with passion alone, money is what makes us able to compete and build. Every penny helps us reach our goals as a team and attend the competitions that we work year-long to have to opportunity to showcase our work in. Your support means more than anything.
Additionally, if you are interested in making a larger donation ($500+), we are currently looking for sponsorships from companies and businesses. You can find the form for those applications here. Non-monetary donations, such as food, transportation, or building materials, are also appreciated. We are so, so grateful for any donations you are able to make. More than anything, this program is fueled through human kindness and compassion; if it weren't for the generous and loving people who are willing to spare money and supplies for the students of this program, the da Vinci Coders would be little more that a concept.
