My name is Kenzie Larkin and I will be running the Providence half marathon on May 18th as a part of TEAM WONDER WILLIE!

My dear family friend Wilhelmina (Wonder Willie) Schnetzler was diagnosed with Glioblastoma when she was 8 years old in April 2020. She heartbreakingly passed away 18 months later, on October 6th, 2021.

Some important things to know about Willie: she was and remains an absolute light in the lives of all those she touched. A daredevil, a HUGE Katy Perry fan, and the most beautiful friend, sister, and daughter. Her family established the “Wilhelmina (Wonder Willie) Jane Schnetzler Foundation” with the intention of “gathering funds to support healing and life and compassionate treatments for pediatric brain cancer. Funds to strengthen research and uncover medical solutions. Funds to bring smiles amid the sadness and laughter amid the pain. Cancer sucks. Pediatric cancer is evil. Pediatric Glioblastoma will be put to rest through the WONDER of our sweet eternal Willie.”

I am inspired by Willie, her fight, and her beautiful life each day. Four of my amazing friends; Lauren, Lily, Sophia, and Elle, will be running alongside me as a part of TEAM WONDER WILLIE!!! We are each hoping to raise $100 for each mile we run on May 18th. Any contributions, big or small, are so beyond appreciated.

The foundation’s purpose is “raw hope is that Willie’s passing will nudge others to rise up. Let Willie’s wonder push you to live higher, think bolder. Pour your light and love into the world and let it ignite a movement of kindness.”
