Hi My Friends and Family,
As you may know, during Caleb's younger days I worked as a nanny with the Wilsons for almost 4 years. I never could have guessed how they would eventually become like true family to us! For years now, Caleb has introduced the kids as, "pretty much my brother and sister." We have all shared in each others’ birthdays, soccer games, graduations, small and big events, new jobs, facing cancer, going on vacations, joys, tears and so many important, and not so important moments in our lives! Our Photos albums tell the stories!!
Since they are so incredibly important to us, I can't help but pass on to you what they are currently going through. Many of YOU are OUR amazing community, who surrounded US with love and support beyond expectation through cancer years. It would mean the world to pass on a bit of this love to them!
Can you please consider if you are able to help in any way? No financial amount is too small, and personal notes and words of encouragement and prayer are always great!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your continued love and place in our lives.
Below is a summary of theirs needs and situation:
Three years ago, Matt (the husband and dad) endured an unfortunate string of surgeries that left him with severe sympathetic nerve damage, affecting his entire body. His poor health has turned his family's life completely upside down. Unfortunately, every day is pure survival for Matt as he fights back against constant and unrelenting discomfort that often leaves him unable to focus.
Prior to these procedures, Matt was in great health and absolutely loved the outdoors. A perfect day for Matt would be to play a round of golf or hike with his wife, take a nap, have a beer, and snuggle his kids as they fell asleep. Unfortunately, Matt is now unable to do any of that. His life consists of staying inside all day and trying anything to distract himself from pain.
In April of 2022, the Wilson's spent $75,000 for Matt to have a nerve reconstruction procedure that may or may not improve his condition over many years. In the interim, Matt needs relief from his symptoms. He suffers from severe body temperature issues, fatigue, compromised cardio function, sweating problems and nerve pain. And unfortunately, sleep doesn't bring an escape as Matt is constantly overheated, making sleep inconsistent and unrestful.
Some of you may know the debilitating consequences chronic pain has on one’s life. His relationship with his wife and kids has been significantly compromised, and severely limits what he can do for his family. He has had to make major adjustments with his kids to make sure there are still ways to bond with them during this critical phase of growing up. Their son is 11-years-old and daughter is eight (we’ve known her since birth).
Matt's wife Amber has had to take over almost all responsibilities for the family because of Matt’s
ailing health. She works a full-time job, and in many ways acts as a single parent given the load she must carry for the family each day.
At this point, Matt is quickly running out of options to help his current condition. However, the Northwest Functional Neurology Clinic in Lake Oswego, OR, believes they can potentially lessen the severity of Matt's symptoms. Northwest Functional Neurology has successfully treated dozens of patients who came with no hope around their debilitating pain, and were ready to end their lives due to such severe chronic pain. While there are no guarantees, Northwest Functional Neurology believes they can help Matt with some of his symptoms, and also promote holistic healing for his body, which will encourage it to recover more quickly from his nerve reconstruction surgery.
However, as with many families, Matt's is going through the painful experience of managing unexpected healthcare costs. Matt needs to spend one week at the Northwest Functional Neurology Clinic, which will cost his family roughly $10,000. Anything you can offer to help the Wilson's would be an absolute gift for their family…and to ours, since we feel like part of theirs!
Thank you so much!
