A call out to our loved ones!
Our dear friends, Virginia and Sarah, are about to go through a couple of months when they could use some love and generosity.
Virginia just donated a part of her liver to a friend of hers (more details below) and when Brooke and I found out about this we wanted to send flowers, or something.
But we learned that in the transfer ward no one can receive anything fun. So, we reevaluated and thought about how we could help them in the long run. We kept thinking about how we could show our love and support and maybe you are too.
*Below is some more information from Virginia about everything. :)
-------------------
From Virginia:
A colleague and friend of mine needed a new liver. We discovered I was match, so I went through the evaluation process and decided to do this thing.
The surgery is a hepatectomy - so they’ll take the right lobe of my liver out through a “chevron incision” that supposedly will end up looking kinda like a hockey stick. I SINCERELY HOPE it does end up looking like a hockey stick, because that will make the tattoo so much easier to design. ;)
I will spend a couple of days in ICU, then will be in the hospital another 5 days or so, then will be recovering at home for another 6-12 weeks. I’m hoping for the shorter end of that recovery, but have to be honest with myself that I might not have the recovery speed of a 20 year old.
-------------------
Brooke and I are moved but not not surprised by Virginia's and Sarah's generosity and we want to help them get through the next couple of months while Virginia recovers. And while they realize they are luckier than many, they still need to cover all of their expenses and some health-related costs.
Virginia won't be able to work for at least a couple of months and we're hoping to help them out a bit. It'll be a long recovery and the lovely Sarah will be working full time, while also taking care of her wonderful wife, but going from two incomes to only one, will be a challenge.
Any amount helps. And if you can't give (and we totally understand everyone has their own stuff that they are going through) please send out some major love and healing thoughts to them.
We thank you. And love you. Peace and health to all!!!
If you have any questions, please reach out to us.
Much love,
Annie and Brooke
