Team USA U24 Dragon Boat Worlds in Thailand
Donation protected
Hello Friends and Family or even those who got linked this by someone I know, my name is Kevin Nguyen. I recently had the privilege of trying out for a second time for the Under 24 Division of Team USA Dragon boat to compete, in my first international race, in Thailand! I am blessed enough to have been able to make it past the first round of trials and have a chance to compete against the best that every other country has to offer.
However, I recently moved away from home to attend university at CSULB and the costs of living and school have caused me to realize that I can’t take on the expenses of traveling on my own. So I’m here asking for any kind of donation no matter how big or small, even just sharing this fundraiser to your friends and family so that I can have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete in my last U24 cycle.
All funds will go towards my flights, housing, costs of attending camps and hopefully not but any other bumps that may come up while I continue training for this worldwide event.
A little background on my paddling career. I started in 2015 in high school where I fell in love with the sport with my team Mountain View Dragon Boat. After I graduated I guest-paddled on teams such as the Los Angeles Racing Dragons, Prism Dragons, East Harbor Paddling Club, and CSULB DB. Until I found my home team the San Francisco Dragon Warriors in which I paddled for 3 seasons and had the opportunity to assistant coach for 2 in the midst of the pandemic. Through them I also found my love for Outrigger Canoe where I was gracious enough to join the San Francisco Outrigger Canoe Club which took me to new heights and experiences that I didn’t know were possible. While I’m still trying to find my place in Socal, my friends and teammates back home still hold a place in my heart and I’m eternally grateful for the experiences I had with them over the years
