Team up with Lori to beat cancer
Donation protected
On Tuesday, November 15, 2016, my sister Lori was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. A very scary thought, an awful word to mouth and even nerve racking to type. However, I am here to proclaim that fear as no power over any of us. Today, at age 42, Lori had two tumors on her ovaries the size of a papaya removed. Resutling in a full hysterectomy with removal of appendix and additional lymph nodes for precautionary measures. She is now looking at 6weeks of surgical recovery with chemotherapy to follow after, without any income or isnurance to assist her & my family in the cost of her care. Chemotherapy will be an ongoing recovery treatment with a severely modified work schedule. Lori is a private person and this does not come easy, but her light and love have given way to humility and humbleness. She needs our help to get through this most difficult part and I am here as a voice to this request with the same love and respect.
Lori did not ask “why me?” nor did she rail against the hand she was dealt. With power and pragmatism before she even knew the exact diagnosis, she went the only way she’s ever known, head-on saying “take whatever you need to…I’m ready to do whatever necessary.” It has never been her habit to shy away from the difficult road. She sees what needs to be done, the right path and she follows it, bearing the weight of her choice with aplomb, composure and dimpled smile. She pushes on when most would crumble because in Lori’s world there is no giving up and not just for herself – rarely ever for herself. She’s lived her life knowing her place, her passion and her ability to make the difference in someone’s life. Whether that meant loading up her truck and helping a loved one move, a player needing extra help with her swing or finding a way for a student to remain in a program and a school by finding funds even when they were scarce. She made it happen. Every. Single. Time. She has been a second mother to her niece Noemi Elise, giving her all during my life changing event of becoming a first time mother.
As a softball coach for over 12 years, she lead with a passion that made me questions my own choices as I never knew a love as Lori did for the sport. And she lead that way with every new endeavor because Lori lives in the belief that we must do whatever it takes – mow that field, take that second job, wake up at 4am, drive the 50, 100, 300 miles – get to where you need to be and don’t ever let yourself or your loved ones down. It is with this passion for a life that we respectfully ask your help. Please see your way forward to help us . In love and peace, God Bless you– thank you. Juli, Lori, Noemi and Reyes family
