Renee Roberts, a vibrant and beloved member of our community, wife, mom, friend & realtor®, is facing a courageous battle against a rare and aggressive form of stage 3 cancer. This diagnosis has come as a shock to her family and friends, as it stems from a hereditary/genetic and immune-based disease which doctors determined to have been undetected for years.

Renee's health has declined significantly over the past year, especially after the loss of her mother. Her symptoms escalated, and after extensive doctor and hospital visits, testing, and meetings with specialists, they were able to determine she indeed had cancer.

She is currently traveling to Lemmen-Holton in Grand Rapids on a daily basis, undergoing a demanding seven-week treatment of radiation and chemotherapy. She is almost halfway through. Renee is fighting to keep her weight up and has become extremely weak.

The Roberts family is also facing the difficult reality of genetic testing for their family members. It has been discovered that a granddaughter has this same disease and, thankfully, will have professionals watching over her for the rest of her life. One of their children has been diagnosed with the same disease, and they are awaiting biopsy results to determine if cancer is present.

Renee's treatment is taking a toll on her body, making it impossible for her to care for herself. Her amazing husband has recently had to take a leave of absence from work to be by her side to help her, and they are anxiously awaiting approval for FMLA to ensure he can maintain his job status and insurance.

This is an extremely difficult road for the Roberts family. Their faith in God is their guiding light during this challenging time. Their faith is strong and they believe that He is working through this storm for a greater purpose. We believe in the power of prayer. Your prayers are invaluable to them, and they know that your love and support are lifting them up. God does immeasurably more than we could ever ask. And when she can’t even pray somedays, she knows that there are others covering her in the gap. Despite the immense physical and emotional challenges she is facing, she has remained a beacon of hope for those around her. Her trust in God, her obedience to follow His lead, her positive spirit, and infectious laughter have touched countless lives.

As Renee undergoes a demanding treatment regimen, the financial burden has become overwhelming. The costs of medical care, medications, and living expenses are taking a toll on her family. They are a private family and resisted allowing others to help, but with much consideration and prayer they have agreed. Prayers are the most important thing they need and they love and appreciate so many people for loving on them on a daily basis.
