Hi friends and family. I want to let everyone know what’s been going on. Two weeks ago we went to our doctor as Mike was experiencing severe back pain. They immediately sent us to the ER due to an abnormal growth on his spine. They ran tests and we were sent home with meds. At first we thought he was getting better but then in a dramatic turn of events, Mike woke up three days ago unable to walk or stand, with little to no feeling in his legs. We came back to the ER. In a shocking turn of events after more cat scans and MRI, Mike has been diagnosed with Lymphoma. He has a mass sitting on his spinal cord which is causing him to be immobile. He’s about to go into surgery to remove part of the mass from his spine. Normally they would start with Chemotherapy but due to the compression on his spinal cord they can’t wait and feel that this is the best route in order to prevent paralysis. The good news is Lymphoma is highly treatable with Chemo after surgery. Please keep us in your prayers as we have a long road to recovery and all of this has been shocking to say the least. Being that we’re in Cali away from all of our biological families, it has already been a struggle. After the next few days settle down at the hospital and we plan a course of action based on a further more detailed diagnosis after surgery, we will need help from friends to get through this. Right now he is in good hands and is high in spirits. It has been a game changer for sure, but we will beat this cancer!!! I’m sure of it.
