Team Turner: Funding Congenital Heart Research

Tax deductible
Our son Turner was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.

Thanks to advances in medical research, Turner has been able to undergo a series of life-saving surgeries — and today, he’s a happy, active kid who loves to play, explore, and make people laugh.

Like many children with complex congenital heart defects, Turner spent much of his earliest life in and out of hospitals and required multiple open-heart surgeries and ongoing specialized care. Those early days were overwhelming and uncertain — but we were incredibly fortunate to benefit from decades of medical progress that made his treatment possible.

We hold our Team Turner fundraiser every February for two reasons: it’s Turner’s birth month, and it’s also American Heart Month.

Congenital heart defects affect nearly 1 in 100 babies, yet research in this area remains critically underfunded. That’s why we’re raising money for The Children’s Heart Foundation — the only national organization dedicated exclusively to funding research for congenital heart defects.

All funds raised through this campaign will go directly to The Children’s Heart Foundation to support congenital heart research grants and scientific collaborations that drive better diagnosis, treatment, and long-term outcomes for children born with heart disease.

The Children’s Heart Foundation funds researchers and clinicians who are working to turn today’s discoveries into tomorrow’s breakthroughs. You can learn more about the impact of their research here: Children’s Heart Foundation – Research Impact.

Impact Snapshot:
  • The Children's Heart Foundation has funded nearly $20 million in congenital heart defect research and scientific collaborations.
  • Research supported by the Children's Heart Foundation has contributed to significant improvements in Congenital Heart Defects outcomes over the past two decades.
  • The Children's Heart Foundation partners with major initiatives and organizations like the American Heart Association to accelerate breakthroughs.

Our goal this February is to raise $10,000 to help advance congenital heart research and support the next generation of heart kids and families who are just beginning their journey.

Every donation — big or small — helps move this research forward and brings hope to families who need it most.

Thank you for supporting Team Turner and for helping fund the research that saves kids’ lives. We’re deeply grateful.
