Team Tongala: Fighting with Faith & Strength

Meet Tongala—a devoted Special Education teacher, proud mother, cherished grandmother, and a true light in the lives of so many.

Tongala has served tirelessly as a Special Needs teacher in the Bibb County School District, pouring her heart into her students and lifting up everyone around her. She is known for her warmth, her strength, and her heart for always putting others first—whether in the classroom, in the community, or in her own family.

This year, Tongala was diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. As she bravely fights this disease, she has also been navigating the financial challenges that come with extended time off work and the delay in support from certain policies.

Tongala is a proud mother of three adult children and a loving grandmother to ten beautiful grandchildren. Over the years, she has also adopted and mentored many children in her journey, giving not only from her hands but also from her heart.

Now it’s our turn to give back to someone who has given so much.

This fundraiser was created at her request, though it’s not easy for her to ask, because Tongala is usually the one stepping up for everyone else. But the truth is: cancer doesn’t just take a toll on the body—it impacts every part of life.
