Team Tina family of 5

Hello there, my name is Stephanie and I’m raising funds for my beautiful sister and her family. Today is number 15 in the hospital. She went in to have a large cancerous tumor removed from her sinus cavities, eye, forehead, and yes also her brain. This is a rare type of cancer, only 1 out of 2.5 million people get it. The surgery was only to take 4-5 hours but it actually took 10 hours. The very next day they had to go back and do 2 more unexpected surgeries with her brain and intabate her or she would have died. She laid unresponsive in ICU listed as critical for 7 days. She is awake now but has a very very long road to go. Her left side of her body is not functioning from her eye to her toes. Her speech is slurred and she can’t even sit up without help a little lone stand. She is only 47 years old and a mother of 3. She has been at her job for over 25 years. She carries the insurance for the whole family, her husband works construction. Insurance only covers a tiny portion and whenever she does get released from the hospital she will then go straight to a rehabilitation facility so she can continue to get speech, occupational, and physical therapy that she is going to need for a long time. Her husband has been bedside since the day of surgery (which is where he needs to be) had he not been there over the weekend, the staff would have put a tube down her nose that could have killed her. There is a big sign right above her head that was put there from the neurosurgeon that states there is to be nothing in or down her nose for any reason because her brain is exposed and if they would have put the tube down her nose it would have hit her brain and killed her. They tried to do it twice in the same day. We called the neurosurgeon and team and had a meeting with the nurse manager to get things taken care of. So after that we feel it best to have a family member with her at all times. If you don’t work you don’t get paid and the medical bills are going to be insane not to mention the price of gas going back and forth and the additional expense of food.
