Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it is one of the bravest things you may do!
A few of us have talked a lot about creating a Go Fund Me for her. She has been resistant. We have finally got her to crack and allow us to reach out to all of you to lend a hand.
Terri has been through more than most of us could or would ever want to imagine. Most of you may know her story, but I’ll try to provide an overview of the her last 20+ years. I assure you what she has endured with such grace, strength, beauty and big HUMOR will not be given an ounce of justice in this synopsis.
20 or so years ago, in her early 20’s, Terri was diagnosed with Chondro Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer, which the only treatment was to remove the tumor. It was located near her spine and had spidered so while the surgery, for the most part, was successful, 100% clean margins were not possible.
About 10 years later, Terri felt strange and a scan revealed the cancer had continued to grow further up in her back/spine/neck. She was back in surgery and multiple vertebrae and nerves were removed with the tumor and replaced with metal rods and plates in her neck. She then spent, 8 weeks in Boston undergoing proton beam radiation treatments to further “zap” any remaining stubborn cancer.
She has endured multiple surgeries to regain minimal function in her left hand due to the nerve damage and removal.
Obviously, each surgery has its risk, boatloads of pain, cocktails of medication, therapy and not to mention side effects and the ramifications on her body. Then of course, the medical bills, not covered by insurance, show up, and show up and continue to show up…
Our beloved fiery red head, has fallen into the .1% of people with metal plates in their body, to have serious, yet “unique” complications. Terri has often been told how “unique” her situation is. Most people would love to be called “unique” but when dealing with medical issues, this is not a word of comfort in any way.
In the past 4 months, Terri has had multiple surgeries due to the residual effects of her various surgeries to rid the cancer. One major surgery was to remove the metal plate in her neck that had pushed through her esophagus. She was constantly choking and has not eaten a “real” meal since December 2017. She is now restricted to feeding tubes and nothing else, not even water at this point.
She has been unable to work as the phenomenal full-service real estate agent she is but is still answering emails, texts and providing the best real estate advice around. More than anything she would love to personally find you your next home but just can’t at this time. She has personally handpicked a colleague to help her clients until she is able. She will vet any agent in any market. Plus, she has great real estate advice, knowledge and connections throughout.
To add to the high emotions, in March of this year, Terri lost her beloved, light of her life, Baby Dog. Her closest companion and furry best friend. A few short months later, her father passed away after a short illness. This has clearly been a challenging year. Maybe the most challenging.
Like I said, this is a synopsis. It is merely a glimpse into her 20+ year battle, including so many surgeries that she stopped counting at 25 and has since lost count. Additional surgeries are imminent and the doctors are dealing with many unknowns. So many details have been excluded in this summary. While many of us complain about a cold, she rarely, if ever, complains.
With all this she battles daily to be the hilarious, fun, quick witted, feisty woman she is but it is not always possible with the pain and overall exhaustion. And, the medical bills continue to build…
While we all would love to “fix” this for her, we can’t. So, how can we help? We can’t bring food, flowers don’t last, and she has plenty of comfy pajamas. So after much persuasive convincing, Terri is allowing us to reach out and ask for a contribution on her behalf.
Despite everything she is going through, she always asks about your life, will try to help you solve your problems, lifts you up even when she is down, tells you like it is when you need to hear it, listens and provides great advice, and ALWAYS makes you laugh with her quick witted, often sarcastic humor.
If you are so inclined please contribute via the Go Fund Me OR feel free to send me, Keely Stansberry, a check written to Terri Harder @ 18021 Palmer Circle, Eden Prairie, MN 55347. Please share this with anyone you know that may be moved to contribute. We would love to meet this goal to bring our sweet girl a tiny bit of comfort and stress relief.
Thank you so much for supporting Terri!
We love you Terri! ❤

Just follow her on Facebook, you won’t be disappointed. Post from her Facebook after a surgery at Mayo “ Does this piece of metal look better inside or outside my esophagus? Day 8 at Mayo recovering from an 11 hour surgery that doctors hoped would be five hours… coming home with a pic line and a feeding tube because nothing says summer fun like bags of liquid food and antibiotics.”
