Hi, my name is Taylor Cavallaro. Wife to Michael, mother to the cutest daughters, Mila (5) & Remi (8months). I’m also a daughter, sister, friend and beauty industry babe. I wear many hats and absolutely love my busy life. I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story. My family and I were blindsided by my recent diagnosis.

As many of you may have heard, I have been diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer. If it is a shock to you, trust me, we are still processing the news ourselves. What started with a hospital visit for suspected food poisoning quickly escalated to a worst case scenario. During my hospital stay, my Dr’s were able to perform a series of tests that ultimately confirmed a tumor was causing my symptoms and surgery was inevitable for me to recover. The size of the tumor was causing a major blockage in my upper right colon. That portion of my colon was removed through endoscopic surgery and a biopsy was done to determine the extent of the cancer. The results determined that all of the tumor was removed from my colon but unfortunately the cancer had also spread to my lymph nodes.

While I am still recovering from surgery, I have already met with my amazing oncologist who has laid out the plan. By the end of this month, I will start chemotherapy. Every 14 days for the next six months, I will receive a combination of treatments to kick the last of the cancer out of me! To also decrease the odds of getting colon cancer again.

Many of you have asked how you can help. I am open to advice, experiences and all the support God leads you to. Many have done so much for us already. Thank you! I know I am strong, positive and have a great support system, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous…nervous for Michael and I, even more so for our girls. I humbly ask to you please pray for us. As often as you can.

We did also start this go fund me to also alleviate medical costs (that we are quickly accruing), as well as paying for any unplanned treatment expenses and comforts. Thank you to our family and friends who have encouraged me to start this page.
For those of you wondering how? Why? I’ve learned among younger adults, ages 20 to 49, colorectal cancer is estimated to become the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States by 2030. My mission is to spread awareness to save more lives. I am blessed to have had the doctor’s and nurses in my life to have caught this at a point where we are able to treat. I implore you and your loved ones to get screened. If you feel any changes in your bowel habits, if you are experiencing weight loss unexpectedly, are anemic or over 45 years old PLEASE get a colonoscopy. At only 35 years old, this was an unexpected diagnosis. A diagnosis that was caught and confirmed only through a colonoscopy.
I will update you as I learn more, but for now, a port will be placed and treatment starts in a few weeks. Send all the good vibes and add me to all the prayer chains.
