Team Sundog - RYC Scholarship Regatta

Tax deductible
We're not racing - we're not even a sailboat! But we ARE helping to raise money for youth sailing scholarships in the RYC Scholarship Regatta, brought to you in partnership with the Sail, Power, and Steam Museum (a 501c3 organization).

Every year, the Rockland Yacht Club supports youth sailing in our community, and SPSM hosts SKFF, a FREE youth sailing program for kids 8-14 years old. (150 kids participated last year!)

Youth sailing promotes independence, leadership, confidence, and teamwork. Kids learn to follow directions, to give directions, and to appreciate and honor their environment. Heck, they even learn math and physics (whether they know it or not).

While we are no longer on a sailboat, we certainly support these great programs. It's wonderful to see the kids arrive on a Monday, unsure of themselves, unsure of the boat, unsure of their fellow classmates. When they leave on Friday, they are so proud of having sailed by themselves, of having capsized and righted their vessels, of having explored the harbor in this new and exciting way.

Team Sundog has chosen to enter the "virtual" class for this race. We can't haul up our sails, but we can sure help to raise some money. Won't you join us???
