After hearing our dear friend is  facing a challenging health issue and fielding many requests from within our community on ways to provide tangible help, I was able to garner the “reluctant” support of Charlie and Janet to put this fundraising page together. Charlie a retired LAPD Sergeant and Janet a Registered Nurse have spent a life time helping others and not used to receiving help themselves.  

Both Charlie and Janet would ask for Prayer first and foremost as none of these efforts will prevail without the Lords's hand in the healing!!

While serving on the nursing team at camp this summer, Janet noticed a lump on her neck. She had the lump tested and the subsequent diagnoses was Stage 2, non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

The medical treatment as I understand it: chemotherapy treatments every 28 days for a period of time. The treatments started last week. Praise the Lord that her bone marrow tested clear. At some point, her bone marrow will be extracted and a bone marrow transplant will be conducted at the City of Hope. This will take place in the next several months - The bone marrow transplant will require Janet to go into total isolation for 6 to 8 weeks at the City of Hope.

After prayer and consultation with doctors and a close friend, Janet has decided on the following treatment plan - Chemotherapy, diet, and vitamins.  The chemo treatments are being covered by medical insurance (Kaiser). I understand the City of Hope has Kaiser doctors at their facility however it is unknown what costs are involved at City of Hope and what Kaiser insurance will cover at their facility?

Vitamins and special diets are not covered insurance costs and will add approximately $1500+ / month to the budget for the duration of the treatment.

The goal was set to cover uninsured costs for one year, not knowing how long and to what extent treatment and recovery looks like for NH- Lymphoma. 

Other options to give: gift cards to Sprouts and/ or Whole Foods.
