Hey there! Katie Jo and Cary here on behalf of Soldado or loving known to us as Sol. Let me tell you a story about this sweet old gentleman; he was brought in to a shelter in San Jacinto as a stray (return actually) on August 22, 2025 presenting with severe wounds (info in the pictures). Another dog without such severe injuries was then placed in the same kennel with him, on August 29th this dog attacked Soldado giving him more severe injuries. He was given the bare minimum treatment and left in a cold kennel to struggle to survive. Not a soul showed real interest in saving him… many people pleaded and begged that someone save him but no one chose to claim him. He was given a final date of September 5th at 3pm… left to struggle and suffer that whole time.

On Friday, September 5th at 1:15pm I saw his shelter video and it shattered my heart. I sent it to Cary and he said call the shelter so I did. At 1:30pm I called, the shelter held him. In less than 24 hours I had a rescue helping and transport lined up. On Sunday the 6th he took his freedom ride out of the shelter and to his temporary foster where he awaited pick up to come to us, the following Tuesday he started his long journey to our home and arrived the next day. Today is Friday, September 12 and he has had his first appointment with the vet. His leg is their main concern which they want to save with a plate or plates holding his bones together, we will cover as much as we can but any and all help is much appreciated. It’s been a fast and wild ride but it is no where near over yet, thank you again everyone for your continued support and help, we greatly appreciate you all!
