The She Sends Foundation is proud to support a special Cape Epic campaign supporting Khaltsha Cycling Academy and Pump for Peace’s new women’s initiative.
Italian champion Greta Seiwald of Decathlon-Ford Racing and World Champion Kate Courtney are racing together under the She Sends Foundation banner. Their goal is simple: to show what is possible when people come together to keep a dream alive and turn a hard challenge into an opportunity to rise together.
During their time in South Africa, the team has been inspired by organizations working at the grassroots level to connect, support, and inspire women and girls through cycling. Those connections sparked this special project, with funds raised through this campaign benefiting programs including the Khaltsha Cycling Academy and Pump for Peace’s new women’s initiative.
Khaltsha Cycling Academy
Khaltsha Cycling Academy is a community program in Khayelitsha, Cape Town that empowers girls through cycling by combining riding, mentorship, and personal development. Their center provides a safe space where girls can ride together indoors on Zwift - providing new opportunities to connect, build confidence and rise together. Follow them at @khaltshagirls.cycling
Pump for Peace Women’s Initiative
Pump for Peace’s new women’s initiative works to break down barriers to cycling by creating opportunities for women from underrepresented communities to access bikes, mentorship, and pathways into the sport. With their new women's initiative, the program will be empowering community leaders to design curriculum, host events and show women from underrepresented communities that they belong on the bike.
