On Saturday morning, May 27th, Santi, our sweet 6-month-old son Santiago, was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma disease at the Golisanos Children's Hospital.

Congenital glaucoma causes an increase in intraocular pressure within the eye, preventing the proper drainage and flow of aqueous humor. This leads to increased pressure and optic nerve damage, which can result in a reduced visual field or irreversible complete loss of vision. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial, as it can slow the progression of the disease.

Santiago's symptoms appeared suddenly overnight, and they acted promptly, seeking medical attention. Santiagos first surgery was June 7th and his next will be July 19th. This rare disease has filled us with various emotions as they embark on this challenging journey. While they are uncertain about the future, they understand that treating this condition will require extensive and prolonged efforts.

We have full confidence in our medical team, knowing we have the best professionals guiding Santi toward the finish line. Santi will continue to have multiple operations over the next year. Meanwhile, Santiago will be receiving multiple medicated eye drops throughout the day to stabilize his intraocular pressures.

We are incredibly grateful for the love and support shown during this difficult time we are living in. Please join me in prayers, support, and love for our amazing little boy.
