“I WANT TO LIVE!!!!” I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April of this year. I was told maybe I had 30 months to live. To hear those words made my world as I once knew it, turn into a nightmare. My first thoughts were of my granddaughter and my sons. I was then told that hopefully with chemo, possibly surgery, if it works, it would extend my life for longer. The tumor they discovered is sitting on top of a blood vessel on the body of my pancreas, which if I’m fortunate to even have surgery will make it even more complicated because of where it is. Before all this came about I had been caring for my parents, which had Alzheimer’s and dementia. I had to quit my job, move them in with me, and sadly lost them both in October and November of 2019. I was so exhausted and mourning for the loss of my parents that I thought I was just run down. Then the pandemic happened and during this time my health was only getting worse. It was next to impossible to see a doctor in 2020 and 2021 wasn’t much better. After being an advocate for myself and making these doctors listen to my cries, it took until April of this year to be diagnosed!!!! I’ve been out of work this whole time, and am asking for donations for medical and financial expenses. Anything will help. If I can explain in a few words, having cancer not only sucks the life out of you but takes any beauty you might feel towards yourself and makes you feel like the ugliest form of yourself in every way. I’m scared everyday. To see my family and the fear in their eyes as they’re trying to be strong for me is heart wrenching. I gratefully thank you for your help.
