Team Nyima Emergency Fundraiser

Donation protected
Team Nyima is a small independent rescue led by Amber. Amber often takes in cats that other rescues aren't able to help. These are cats and kittens who usually need extensive vet care. All of us pitch in what we can and there are occasional donations but Amber largely pays for this out of pocket in addition to trapping and driving cats and supplies to various fosters. This is all on top of her full-time job as an ER nurse.

I'm launching this fundraiser because Amber and Team Nyima needs help so that we can keep helping cats.

It's been a hard year and Team Nyima has taken in more cats than we originally planned.

One of these cats is sweet little Maggie. She was found lying on the side of the road in Newmarket. Her rescuer first thought she had been run over but then saw Maggie starting to move and try to get up. She was quickly scooped up and rushed to the vet. She is all skin and bones, weighing only 1.4kg. The vet believes she's a senior. Maggie was severely dehydrated and required hospitalization numerous times for IV fluids and IV meds. She was very weak and unable to stand. She is also severely constipated, in part because she doesn't have the strength to push. Despite all this, she is holding on and improving. She is now able to take shacky steps and even meow for pets. Maggie has along way to recovery and will require many vet visits. Her last vet bill was $1700 and this is just the beginning.

Then there is little Teddy. 6 month old Teddy was part of a hoarding situation. We discovered a baseball size lump/mass on his abdomen which turned out to be a large hernia (the largest Amber's vet has ever seen). The vet advised us that it must be taken care of as soon as possible and would cost $500. The surgery was booked the next day and we're happy to announce that Teddy made it and is recovering well.

However, he has 5 siblings. Some are pregnant and the rest will need to be fixed and vaccinated.

There are other cats in Amber's care too. She is strained thin but we are hopeful that, with your help, we can reach or even surpass our goal so that we can save even more loves.

Donations can be made here or directly to our Vet by calling the Animal Hospital of Aurora at [phone redacted] and letting them know you're donating on behalf of Team Nyima.

Sending much love,
