Team Myles Lundeen
Just two days before Christmas the Lundeen family was shocked with devastating news. Two year-old Myles Lundeen was diagnosed with leukemia on December 23, 2020. His treatment was started on Christmas Eve, and the Lundeen family spent their Christmas broken-hearted.
Myles is such a happy, adventurous, lovable little guy. When people are around him they cannot help but smile. He brings his family so much joy!
He will be receiving ongoing medical treatment in Portland, nearly two hours away from their home. Your generosity will help them cover medical expenses, hotel stays, travel expenses, care for their other children, and all the unexpected costs that will arise over the course of Myles’ treatment.
Myles’ dad, Joel, is an inspiring English teacher and the JV boy's basketball coach at Corvallis High School. The students elected him to speak at last year's graduation and he delivered an inspiring spoken word tribute.
Laura is an extraordinary mother and human. In non-Covid times, she is a program coordinator at the non-profit Strengthening Rural Families. Recently she has had more time at home with "My-My" and like so many other parents, has also become a full-time homeschooling teacher for her older children.
Big brother Elijah and My-My have a uniquely close relationship. Myles worships his big brother, and he screeches with laughter when Elijah surprises him with "scary" faces. Their separation due to hospital visiting restrictions will be really hard for these two buddies.
Jona is a tender-hearted and proud big sister. Her passion is modern dance, also on pandemic hiatus, but she can still express herself through her own innovative choreography. She loves babysitting her little brother and always carries a photo of Myles in her wallet to show off to friends.
Lundeens consider themselves ‘Minnegonians’, as Laura was raised in Minnesota and they spend a part of the summer there every year with friends and family.
The Lundeen family is a special one. They truly practice loving their neighbors, as well as strangers. They did not ask for this, but we love them dearly and want to help them as much as we can. Thank you for helping in any way that you can!
