Hi, my name is Joy and I am Milton's daughter writing this fundraiser on behalf of my dad and my 3 brothers, Cedric, Jeremy and Adrian. On November 6th, 2022 my dad was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia. It was so bad my 2 eldest brothers called me and asked me to fly down to Las Vegas as we all live in other states. While being treated for 3 rare bacterial forms of pneumonia, he experienced kidney failure, and heart problems and was placed on a ventilator. During the time he was on a ventilator, he had a large left-brain stroke. He spent almost 6 weeks in ICU, during which my oldest brother and I have been at the hospital every day. Our dad has experienced severe brain trauma and lost movement and function in his right arm, right hand, and leg. The effects of the stroke have also left my dad with memory loss, speech impairments, mood and impulse disorders and a delayed swallow reflex. After his stroke and during his hospital stay he made improvements in all areas and was able to be transferred to a skilled physical rehab facility. He has now been at the rehab facility since December 16th, 2022. During this time where he currently remains, he is working on speech, cognitive abilities, and physical and occupational therapy to try and gain back some quality of life back. About a week ago his doctor did a physic evaluation and deemed him incompetent and now we have to file for guardianship to try and preserve my dad's life that he worked so hard for as he, unfortunately, did not have a Power of Attorney in place. My dad before this horrible situation had just moved to Las Vegas and purchased his home and new vehicle. He is loved by many and has helped so many people out over the years. He loves football, food, basketball, golfing, swimming, taking drives and most of all spending time with his family, especially the 6 grandchildren he has. He started his cleaning business, Good & Clean Company over 25 years ago from the ground up and now it is also in jeopardy due to medical, legal and financial expenses. Due to our dad's insurance being a California insurance company we are running into a lot of issues trying to get him switched, but the bills are still coming. His business and personal life have hit rock bottom. I have agreed to move my family from Saint Louis to Las Vegas to gain residency and become his guardian, however, so much help is needed for our dad. He is going to need long-term care and until guardianship has been approved we are asking for any help with donations. Our dad means the world to us and we want nothing more than to try and give him the medical care he needs and keep the things he has worked his life for. Any dollar amount would help us.
