Hi, my name is Sophie and we’re raising funds to support a group of five dedicated young Highland dancers from the Isle of Bute who work incredibly hard to pursue their passion — and who would love the opportunity to travel to Basel, Switzerland in November 2026 to compete.

These dancers train at least twice a week with the Anne McIlroy School of Dance and spend most weekends travelling across Scotland to take part in competitions. Their commitment, discipline, and love for dance truly shows — and it’s paying off. Three of the dancers have recently won multiple trophies, a fantastic achievement that reflects just how much effort they put in.

Competing in Switzerland would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Not only would they be representing the Isle of Bute and Scotland on an international stage, but they would also have the chance to experience new places, meet other dancers, and create memories that will stay with them forever.

While they already have most of their costumes, the cost of making this trip possible is significant. Funds raised will go towards:

• Travel to and from Switzerland

• Accommodation during the competition

• Competition entry fees and related costs

We want to make sure every dancer has the chance to be part of this amazing experience, regardless of financial circumstances.
