Gymnasts and coaches stand shoulder to shoulder for team mate, James Dowrich as he bravely battles recovery from his accident.
James has trained and competed with Edgbarrow trampoline club for many years and is a pivotal member at club.
Just the weekend before at Trampoline League Finals competition he was described as ‘The Nicest man in League’. They are correct - he is an all round good guy. Bal, his mum is also a well known friendly volunteer figure at competition either on the door welcoming us all or marching around the competition floor making sure all competitors are in the right places. Sophie, James’ sister was also a prominent member of Edgbarrow. Making this family so important to us.
Currently studying at University, James hasn’t yet started out in life.
On 24th November, James had a potentially life changing accident during training, breaking his spine at C5 & C6. He is currently in hospital after experimental surgery to alleviate pressure on his spinal cord. He hopes to leave ICU this week.
The good news is that Doctors are happy with his surgical recovery. He has some feeling but little movement. The road to recovery may be a long one and as yet we do not know what that recovery will look like.
We at Edgbarrow Trampoline Club would like to raise money for James and his family to help during this traumatic time and going forwards. The money will initially help towards the financial burden of hospital visits, fuel, parking, food etc and then any funds left over towards James’ likely lengthy recovery and associated costs.
It has been reported that James is currently in good spirits and still the polite young man he has always been.
All our thoughts are with you James.
