My name is Jared and I am from Sioux Falls, SD. I grew up with 2 older sisters and 1 younger brother. God blessed me with 2 great parents as well. If there is one thing I've learned so far, it's that life is complicated, and although we like to think that we are in control, we are not! When I was 13, my parents went on a dream vacation. They set out on a Tahitian cruise in April, 2000. My dad Cris disappeared off of that cruise ship, and to this day, we still don't really know what happened. Days later, after many prayers, his body was found miraculously on a sand bar in the Pacific Ocean, however sadly he was already gone from this world.
May, 2000, in Salem, SD, Maria and Allen Jordan sadly lost their mother and wife. Maria was 16 years old. Dori Jordan passed away after her 2nd battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma. A warrior would be an understatement for this strong woman and what she had to go through in the last years of her life.
Allen and my Mom met at a Christian support group for grieving spouses. Later, two families became one big happy family. I think back sometimes about how Maria must of felt being an only child, and all of the sudden getting 4 new siblings! Either blessed or cursed...ha ha ha, haven't figured that out yet!
Today, my sister Maria has a family of her own. A loving husband, Sean of 10 years, and two young boys, Caleb, 8, and Liam, 5. It breaks my heart to share with you that Maria has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. It is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system. It was discovered in her neck and is about the size of a baseball. She began her first chemo treatment on July 5th. You can learn more about Hodgkin's lymphoma here.

I've started this gofundme page to help Maria and her family with medical expenses. We can all put ourselves in her shoes and imagine how overwhelming this is all going to be for her and her family. Thank you in advance for your prayers, thoughts, and monetary donations.
