"And, Dear God, please make my mommy well." These are the softly and sweetly spoken words of five year old Maddie as she finished the blessing for our family dinner. Those of you who read this realize the great sadness the Coppola family is experiencing at the alarming news of Lesley Coppola's serious condition. On Monday, January 29th, Lesley and Matthew, her husband, listened to the news from the oncologist... Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer that has metastasized to her liver and lungs. Lesley celebrated her 31st birthday on January 2nd, and never envisioned that the year 2018 would be anything less than another year of birthday parties, school, soccer games, church and family. Lesley and Matthew have two precious daughters, the mirror image of their beautiful mother, Maddie (5) and Lilly (2).
With this sad news, life has dramatically changed for the Coppola family. Lesley has a full agenda of doctor's appointments, tests, and procedures. Yesterday, she had a port placed for the forthcoming chemotherapy, and Friday she will receive an iron infusion. She is anemic due to the cancer, and as a result, she is very weak and tired. Their income is limited to what Matthew earns at his job. Additionally, although they have health insurance through Matthew's employer, deductibles and out of pocket maximums have yet to be reached. Lesley is seeking to become a patient at the Cancer Treatment Center of America located in Newnan, Georgia.
The Coppola family is one that lives a life of strong Christian faith. If you know them, you recognize that Lesley and Matthew are the most loving couple--Where Lesley walks, Matthew walks. Where Lesley feels pain, Matthew feels pain. Where Lesley fights, Matthew fights harder. Lilly is young, but she senses change, and as you can tell, Maddie is worried for her mother. Cancer is something these little girls should not know-it is a thief, trying to steal their mother away.
Lesley and Matthew have consented to setting up this Go Fund Me page in hope and faith that it will offset some of their costs for medical care and medical related travel to and from the hospital. Any funds raised beyond those needed for medical care will go toward education funds for Lesley and Matthew's daughters. Many people ask, "How can I help?" If it is in your heart to help this family, please contribute to this Go Fund Me page. This page will also be used to update those interested in knowing more about Lesley's healing journey. We cannot possibly thank you enough for the out pouring of love and much needed prayers. We thank you in advance for your continued prayers and help.
