As many of you know, my sister, Carol Keesee, was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal Cancer.  Her prognosis is very good; but, she has to fight a battle that will include chemotherapy, radiation and major surgery.  This battle will last approximately nine months at which time the doctors are confident that the cancer will be eradicated. Anyone who knows my sister knows that she is a fierce warrior and SHE! WILL! BEAT! THIS!

Although Carol has great insurance, she has to reach a hefty out-of-pocket total before her insurance kicks in at one hundred percent.  Her diagnosis was made in November 2019 and reached her out of pocket threshold within two months, only to have it start over January 1st. Additionally, there are some treatments that are being recommended that her insurance has deemed "not necessary" and will not pay.  When your team of doctors say that they are seeing remarkable results from these treatments, you tend to move forward with them - even without insurance coverage - when your life is in the balance and you are looking for the best possible results from your treatment. We are establishing this GoFundMe to help with these medical expenses. 

Carol has agreed to do this on two conditions: 1) That we set the goal only for her out-of-pocket and treatments expenses not covered by insurance; and, 2) Any funds left over can be donated to another cancer warrior’s GoFundMe to pay this gesture forward.
