Our daughter is diagnosed with a rare incurable primary immune deficiency CVID ( common variable immune deficiency) . She needs life - saving infusions to through her chest port to help fight invaders that ended her immune system. She’s constantly in and out of the hospital battling one infection after another. She needs a weekly dose of methotrexate  , which causes a lot of side effects.  We are hoping that we could get some help towards her medical expenses. No families in United States should be in the position to choice to feed their family or buy prescriptions that your child desperately needs . No families in United States should choice to feed their family , pay their mortgage or save your child. No families in United States should be blindsided by unexpected medical bills and additional medical fees. It’s very overwhelming and frustrating that families that are raising a serious ill child have to make decisions to put a roof over their head or fall behind on bills because they have to pay medical bills or unexpected medical bills. Today , I received a call from a special pharmacy that makes Katalina’s medication that she needs and our insurance doesn’t cover a penny. I was in shocked and told them that I couldn’t afford to pay this amount . I asked them to call me next Friday to see if we have the funds. Katalina’s upcoming life - saving infusion is Monday and our insurance won’t cover anything until we reach our deductible. We need a new law to give families free insurance for any families that has a children that is diagnosed with a critical medical condition.  Even though Katalina is 9 years old. She has the passion to give back to our community! Recently, her annual Christmas toy drive, she collected over 15,000 Christmas toys to give to her hospital, Ronald McDonald House, homeless shelters and foster children.
