Juana Flores Legal Defense Fund

Juana Flores Legal Defense Fund

As many of you know, my mother, Juana Flores, is home temporarily after being deported a little over two years ago. Now, the real fight begins as we battle the immigration legal system to keep her home.

We need to raise $25K for legal fees before she is deported again in a few months. We have spent thousands to bring her home and we have an excellent legal team that continues to be devoted to her case. We now need to come up with the remaining legal fees to file the necessary documents that will keep her home. We need her home where she can continue to take care of my disabled brother Oscar, who is finally getting the help he needs after her two-year absence, and she can take care of her new grandson while my other brother serves overseas in the U.S. Air Force.

It has been a long two-year ordeal for my family and so many have helped us along the way, from our local community all the way to the White House. We have one last remaining fight before we can keep her home where she belongs. We appreciate any donation you can give us before her time runs out and she is deported once again.

Any amount you can give is greatly appreciated. Please pass this on to others who might want to share in our fight and help push back against the injustices that so many families like ours have endured. Thank you.

A LITTLE RECAP

My mom is Juana Flores. On April 2, 2019, mom was forced to leave her home in California and deport to Mexico after 30 years in the U.S.

Since then, we became a shattered family. Dad was distracted and constantly worried about her.

Mom fled Mexico in 1988, two years after President Ronald Reagan signed the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act granting status to illegal immigrants like her. She married my dad, worked hard and lived peacefully until 2019 when the Trump Administration’s ICE dismissively deported her along with so many others.

Now that she is finally home, we hope she gets to stay– maybe even after next year when my brother returns from the Middle East as a soldier in the U.S. Air Force.

We are a hardworking family of modest means. My father immigrated from Mexico and is a U.S. citizen. Mom and dad bought a home, paid their taxes, and lived quiet lives (well, as quiet as you can get with 10 kids) until April 2019, when our world was turned upside down.

The only good to come of this is that my mom’s case has reached the highest legislative branch in the country, resulting in the “Protect Patriot Parents Act,” a bill introduced by U.S. Representative (D) Salud Carbajal of California. The bill is currently before Congress, and if passed, it would help my mom adjust her status as well as other immigrant parents of U.S. soldiers. There’s been support from our church, our city, television stations, radio stations, and an extraordinary local judge.

My family thanks you for any amount of money you can give to help keep mom home with us.

Sincerely,

The Family of Juana Flores
