Dear Families, Friends, & Supportive Community:
Sometimes in life you're blessed to work at a job that you love and if you’re lucky enough, you end up working with a person that starts out as a good colleague, in time turns into a friend… and if you are really blessed, then that person becomes part of your family. For us, that person is Jennifer Perez.
Jenn is a NYC DOE elementary school teacher who has touched the lives of many students, colleagues, and families throughout her career. Jenn is also a loving daughter, sister, wife, and more importantly mother to two beautiful young girls, Mia (9) and Taylor (6). In the midst of this challenging year, she continued to be a devoted wife to her loving husband, Ricky, mother to her daughters, an incredibly motivated and loving teacher to her students and families that are blessed to be in her class. She decided to take it to the next level and become a student herself, by continuing her education and always striving to be an even better teacher.
Suddenly, the most tragic and frightening thing happened to our “Wonder Woman”, she was recently diagnosed with an auto immune disease that has attacked her liver and it causing it to fail. Jenn is in need of an immediate liver transplant. Even though she is getting the best possible care at this time, she was put on the waiting list for a liver. Adding to all of this stress, worry, and sadness, the safety protocols due to Covid, restrict her family and friends from being by her side, this makes it even more unbearable for our dear friend, Jenn.
Not only is Jenn in need of a liver, but almost as important is her need for our love & support at this time. This GoFundMe account can alleviate some of the trials, tribulations, and concerns that the medical field cannot help this young family with. If you are a NYC DOE member, and have more than 50 days in your CAR bank, you are eligible to donate time so that Jenn can continue to get her full pay while trying to save her life. If you are interested in this type of donation, please go to your payroll secretary to file the proper paperwork.
For anyone else, please find it in your heart, to give any amount that you can. Let's all remember, that even the smallest donation can show the biggest sign of support and love for this wonderful family in this dire situation.
Thank you in advance for listening, caring, donating and possibly sharing this if you can. We would love to help our “Wonder Woman” Jenn continue to bless us all with her light and love. Your donation can help us reach our goal for this deserving “family member” #TeamJENN. Let’s transplant hope one dollar at a time.
