20 years ago, I met a guy by the name of Nathan Jager. Little did I know, Nathan would become one of my very best friends in life. At the same time, my to-be-wife Alicia moved into the same dorm room, with his to-be-wife Lauren, not knowing that it would be the start of their lifelong friendship. All this time later, we four have walked through many chapters of our lives together and are thankful for the day our paths crossed by the grace of God. God knew we would need the Jager family in our lives and God knew the Jager family would need the Kennedys in their lives.
For those who may not know, Nathan has been in a battle with a very rare condition that has caused him to suffer with chronic blood clots. The official diagnosis is called IVC Atresia. Basically he was born without a pretty important vein system that our bodies are supposed to have. This has caused Nathan to battle life and death multiple times, CareFlighted 3 times, spent hundreds of nights in the hospital, and countless surgeries & procedures.
Through some pretty miraculous connections, they have been put in contact with a few doctors around the country who have dealt specifically with IVC Atresia. These doctors have been evaluating Nathan’s scans and tests, and have determined that the majority of the his vein issues can be corrected by a surgical procedure. This is what they have been waiting years to hear! However, because so few doctors have experience with this issue they have to travel to Buffalo, NY for the surgery, which is scheduled for Sept 19th. This is the news we’ve been waiting to hear for years! There is HOPE!!!
Many people know Nathan and Lauren and have been helped by their friendship, mentorship, and personal ministry. I believe this is a time where we can give back and help ease some of the their burden.
Would you consider partnering with these great friends? I’d never ask you to give to something that I personally wouldn’t give to myself. I am sure they would appreciate it and I fully believe it can make a difference.
To Nathan and Lauren, thank you both for being in my life and walking through many highs and lows with us. I am a better person because of your friendship and the love you have shown to me, many times when I was in a place where I was hard to love. You’re the type of people that everyone needs in their life and I hope that this will help in the journey. I love you!
