Team Florent Lets Beat Bowel Cancer

Andrew ‘Flory’ Florent died from bowel cancer on Tuesday 16 August 2016, at 45 years of age.
Since his diagnosis in 2013, with medical professionals giving him ‘just a few months’, Andrew fought like a titan and smashed his prognosis in the face.   With his wife Rachael as his side kick for 30 years and his 2 boys, Oliver (now 18) and Jai (now 15) on his team, he had too much to live for to let go without a fight.

Andrew travelled the world as a professional tennis player for 16 years, gathering friends and fans everywhere he went.  He was healthy, fit, active and happy.   He lived larger than life, and was happiest having fun and always making other people happy.  But bowel cancer doesn’t discriminate, and after 3 and a half years of a long and bloody hard battle, the enemy proved too strong.

 We can all be a part of changing this horrible ending for other people fighting the same monster, and in doing so, honour the life Andrew lived and the battle he fought.  We want to support his charity of “Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer” that he became an ambassador for.  That ambassador baton has now been handed down to his boys to help raise money and take on the enemy.

“Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer” is a not-for-profit initiative of Cabrini with a vision to significantly lower the number of deaths related to bowel cancer through public awareness, research and medical advances.

 SWEAT, by participating in in the City to Sea Run/Walk on Sunday 20 November as a part of TEAM FLORENT.

 This magnificent fun run is either 5km or 15km, starting at the Botanical Gardens on St Kilda Rd, and ending at Catani Gardens in St Kilda.  All ages and fitness levels welcome!
