Team Flora - Support for Wahlin Family

In the last 6 months, Sarah and Jordan Wahlin have experienced significant, unexpected financial setbacks on two fronts due to Flora’s complex feeding difficulties and – as they eventually learned – her very rare genetic CASK Gene MICPCH disorder . First, though Sarah hoped to return to work full-time in April 2023, she has only been able to work part-time because Flo’s daily care has been quite demanding. Second, Flora has required many unique medical interventions in her short life thus far, and it appears continued, intensive medical care will be part of her life for the indefinite future. Total, unplanned, loss of income for the family between March - September 2023 has totaled over $29,000 and additional bills continue to roll in.

With some continued, gentle encouragement from their community, the Wahlins have agreed to let us set up this GoFundMe, in hopes that we can help this family find some financial stability as they endure this difficult season. Difficult, yet also beautiful, because Flo is such a precious gift to Sarah and Jordan and to our whole community.

The goal of this GoFundMe is to raise $20,000 in order to help offset medical bills to date. This is a short-term, community-driven solution for an acute period of crisis. The Wahlins are considering daily the long-term decisions they will need to make to sustain this new life with Flora, including a different job for Sarah that will help her be available to tend to Flora’s appointments and care, while also supporting the household finances and her desire to have a job outside the home. They are also in the process of applying to the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Admini stration in hopes there may be resources available more long-term for Flora and the family.

A note about privacy:

The Wahlins have decided they would prefer not to know the exact specifics of the donations, but Elizabeth will provide them with a list of names of the givers so they can express their sincere, deep gratitude to each person or family.
