Update on Evelyn’s Journey & New Call to Support
Evelyn Connolly was just 10 years old when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Now 11, and approaching her 12th birthday, she has already endured more than most face in a lifetime.
Our Fund raising event in April 2025, led by the Saint Aidan School community and surrounding parish families, provided much needed support for Evelyn’s family. During that time, they received the incredible blessing that Evelyn had entered remission, a moment of hope after a long and painful journey.
But in October, that hope was shaken when Mark and Belinda learned that Evelyn’s leukemia had returned, less than a year after her first bone marrow transplant. The devastation of that news is beyond words. Once again, their young daughter was facing a battle no child should have to endure.
Evelyn continues to meet this fight with extraordinary courage. She has undergone additional chemotherapy and, on New Year’s Eve, received her second bone marrow transplant. Her second in less than a year! Through it all, she remains the bright, kind, and resilient girl so many love.
She spent the beginning of this year between the hospital and the Ronald McDonald House before returning home, a welcome moment of relief for her family. Due to the transplant, her immune system is completely depleted, requiring strict protective isolation as she heals. We remain hopeful she will return to school before the end of the year to enjoy time with her classmates.
As Evelyn continues to fight, we humbly and prayerfully ask the Saint Aidan community and parish families who first supported her to stand with her once again, while also reaching out to a wider circle of support to surround Evelyn and her family during this journey.
If you are able to give, any contribution, no matter the size, will help ease the financial burden this family is carrying and allow them to focus fully on Evelyn’s healing.
The Connolly family is deeply grateful for every act of kindness, and above all, for the continued prayers that sustain them each day.
