On October 6, 2017, Eleanor Maynard was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. ALL is the most common childhood cancer and has a 90-95% cure rate. Eleanor is a strong and beaming 4 year old who is already showing resilience through this process. Her parents, Adin and Llama, are intensely focused on her care while maintaining consistency and routines for their other two children. This is uncharted territory for them and since her diagnosis, life has been moving at a very fast pace.
Chemotherapy treatments have already started and will be very intense for several weeks. For 6 months, regular visits to the hospital for monitoring and treatment will be required. The full treatment extends for over 2 years.
Adin and Llama are scaling back work as much as possible. Your support and help will relieve stress for Adin and Llama by providing the following:
1. Hire a nutritional consultant ASAP to work with the family to provide metabolic nutritional therapy to make the toxic chemotherapy more effective and lessen the intensity of side effects.
2. Relieve the stress of medical bills that will surface. (After insurance coverage, the family is already facing a few thousand dollars of bills for this first week of care).
3. Purchase high quality food including grass fed organic meats and specialized supplements to support Eleanor and the family's vitality through this time.
In addition to your small bit of financial help, we ask you to vote and advocate for universal access to health care, nutritional care, and family support for all. Our country's wealth should support all families in such times of need.
