Team EDSC competing in Germany!
Donation protected
Erith and District Swimming Club was formed in 1912 and currently has over 300 members. Led by volunteers, we are a family-based, competitive sports club. Our competitive swimmers have been invited to compete in an international gala being held on the weekend of the 26-29 May 2023 in Bexley’s twin town of Neheim-Husten, Germany! 41 swimmers from EDSC will be competing in an Olympic pool, at a European level. The event will feature hundreds of swimmers from over 15 different countries – and we’re aiming to bring home as many medals as we can!
A key goal for this event is to grow our EDSC team spirit, help our younger swimmers develop confidence and give all swimmers valuable experience competing against excellent competitors.
Ideally, we want each swimmer going to Germany the best experience possible: any help you can give us to facilitate that would be amazing! Our goals are simple: we would love to provide each of our 41 swimmers some kit designed especially for the Germany meet (e.g., a swimming hat costs £8 so we need £328 to provide one for everyone. A hoodie to keep them warm poolside before and after their race will cost £40, so to fund one for each swimmer we need £1640). We will also need to feed them (two full-on days of swimming means LOTS of food and drinks!) so even the smallest donations would be gratefully received!
Updated photo shows some of our swimmers training at Charlton Lido last night - outdoor pool, 50m length - sunshine! Fingers crossed we get the opportunity to train more like this and to compete in the same!!!
