Our own source of Sunshine Easton Adams was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia on Tuesday, January 10, at the young age of three.
Easton’s prognosis is good - we are so thankful this was caught early, but the road ahead will be long. We know with the help of friends & family that we can help make it a bit easier on Kate, Jordan and Easton’s five month old brother, Parker.
Easton has already begun rigorous chemotherapy treatment at CHEO and will continue for the next 2-3 years. As a result, Kate and Jordan’s livelihood has taken a hit, and they need support to help with expenses as they embark on this very serious and stressful journey.
Childhood cancer can affect a families finances in ways you might not expect. For the Adams family this primarily means expenses towards child care, home costs, travel and parking at treatment, nutritional supplements, medicines and equipment. And there is a cost for time away from work. Losing income at the same time as having expenses that you haven’t planned for can add to a families stress.
An enormous shout out and thanks to everyone at CHEO — the nurses, clerks, food service staff, doctors, Child Life Team, services staff and more. Easton is fueled by the superpowers these frontline workers show everyday and the Adams family is beyond appreciative of their dedication.
Let’s keep Easton’s smile shining bright and show the Adams family all the love we can. Our very own Spiderman - Easton Henley Adams - is putting on his brave face and is going to shoot webs, kick butt and make cancer his “baddie” to squash for good!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
-Team East and BFF’s of Kate, Jordan, Easton, Parker and Fenway Adams
